SOCIAL WORK, EDUCATION AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT 2017 CONFERENCE

Livingstone, Zambia

25th – 28th June, 2017

Venue: Chrismar Hotel

Welcome Message from the Conference Committee

It is our pleasure and privilege to invite you to participate in the IFSW Joint Africa Region Conference on Social Work, Education and Social Development (SWSD) 2017, to be held on June 25-28, 2017 in Livingstone, at the base of the seventh wonder of the world, the Victoria Falls, locally called Mosi-O-Tunya. The conference is jointly hosted by Association of Schools of Social Work in Africa (ASSWA), the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW, Africa), and Social Workers’ Association of Zambia (SWAZ).

The conference is guided by the main theme “Embracing Evidence-Based Practice for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development” and the suitably coined subthemes which will provide us with a unique opportunity to interrogate a range of issues essential to national, regional and global development discourse as well as to the social work profession and collaborating disciplines. The conference theme is linked to the third pillar of the Social Work and Social Development Global agenda, Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability.

Participation of diverse professions, academics, policy makers, international and local Civil Society Organizations, development partners and students gives this conference a definitive character contributing to a wealth of dialogue and debate in the quest to promote environmental protection and sustainable development.

We look forward to seeing you in Livingstone.

— Jairous Joseph Miti, Conference Committee Chairperson
